MasterCard Selfie Verification For Mobile Payments

MasterCard is testing the ability to verify mobile transactions in England by requiring the use of a selfie to indicate you are present for the transaction. The current testing is to have the customer opt into either a fingerprint of selfie verification mode for mobile payments, instead of traditional passwords or PIN numbers.

There is no word on the scope of testing or how much of a delay this adds to the transaction process, but the goal is to reduce or eliminate the $118 Billion issue of false declines each year. You can read more about the project here.
